BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top economic planner said the non-public sector of the economy created 60 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) at present time.

In the meantime, private businesses created more than 70 percent of jobs in China's urban areas, according to Zhang Ping, director of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

China's non-public economy, which plays an important role in sustaining economic development and creating jobs, had developed at very fast speed since the reform and opening-up policy was initiated 30 years ago, said Zhang.
